What to expect
House of Illusions Wroclaw at Rynek 33 is an attraction to play in, not a museum of collections: instead of display cases you find a mirror maze, optical illusions, a ball pool and terrariums with exotic species. The name “Muzeum Iluzji” (Museum of Illusions) describes a kind of entertainment, then, not a collection.
The museum’s website names four main attractions, each catering to a different taste. The mirror maze and the optical illusions are for those who enjoy having their own eyes fooled. The ball pool is a clear sign that the attraction counts on children. The terrariums with exotic species add an element that has nothing to do with illusions.
On Google Maps the attraction has 4.7 out of 5 from 1,241 reviews (read on 25 October 2026). Read that average with caution: the 240 most recent reviews checked all fell within a single week, so a large share of the ratings is very fresh and says little about how the attraction holds up in the longer run.
Who it is for: above all families with children, because next to the illusions there is a ball pool, and children up to the age of 3 have their own line in the price list. The museum says it suits all age groups; children up to the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult for the whole visit, so you cannot leave a younger child here on their own.
Skip it if you are looking for the history of Wroclaw or for objects in display cases: there are none here. Skip it too if you use a wheelchair. The museum itself says that, because of the stairs, the attraction is not adapted for wheelchair users, and there is no lift inside.
How long: allow an hour. According to the museum a standard visit takes about 45-60 minutes, so it is one item on a day’s programme around the Market Square, not a half-day outing. With children who will want to go back to the ball pool, count on the upper end.
Tips
- In the evening, after sightseeing. The museum is open every day, and from Friday to Sunday it closes later than on other days (on Fridays 10:00-23:00, while on Mondays 10:00-22:00). An hour-long visit therefore fits into the evening, at the end of a day spent on the Market Square.
- Ticket online, any day. You can buy a ticket on site, but the museum recommends buying online. A ticket you have bought can be used on any day within opening hours for 12 months, so it does not tie you to a set date; the museum’s website also shows a discount on tickets bought online.
- Prices and concessions. Prices: standard ticket 55 PLN (about 13 EUR), reduced 43 PLN (about 10 EUR); the reduced ticket covers pupils, students and seniors. Children up to the age of 3, families (two adults and two children) and school groups have separate lines in the price list, and group tickets are sold only on the museum’s website. The amounts are given in the price list on the museum’s website (the website is linked in the practical information box).
- Pushchairs are awkward. You can generally bring a pushchair in, but there are stairs inside and no lift. With a small child, a baby carrier is the easier option.
- Backpack in a locker. There are free lockers for bags and backpacks on site. Food and drinks may not be brought in, so have your snack before you go in.
- Leave the dog at home. Pets are not allowed in; the exception is guide dogs for people with disabilities.
