What to expect

Baszta Tajemnic is closer to an entertainment centre than a museum: a 16th-century tower at ul. Motławska 14 on Granary Island has been fitted out over five floors with wax figures, a mirror maze, an exhibition for the youngest and a haunted house. The rules call the whole a temporary cultural and entertainment exhibition with elements of an educational exhibition; the organiser is DFS Group, a company based in Słupsk.

The basic ticket covers three parts: the Wax Museum, the interactive “Piracka Przygoda” (Pirate Adventure) exhibition and the Mirror Maze. Two further attractions are paid for separately, on site: the Dom Strachu (haunted house) on the top floor and the VR zone.

As the operator puts it: “Baszta Tajemnic is not a museum in the classical style, but an interactive adventure spread over five floors of emotions.” On Google Maps the attraction scores 4.3 out of 5 from 1334 reviews (read on 25 October 2026).

Who it suits: families with children, thrill seekers and those who like to combine learning with fun - that is how the operator itself describes its audience. With a child under 12, plan your route in advance, because the upper floors are not for them (details in the tips).

Skip it if you have claustrophobia, arachnophobia, a fear of the dark or epilepsy, or cope badly with flashing light: the rules advise such people against the visit, especially floors 3, 4 and 5. Skip it too if you are looking for a historical collection - this is an entertainment exhibition, not a museum collection.

Allow about an hour. The operator gives an average visit of 30-90 minutes, depending on the number of attractions and your pace. With the basic ticket alone, expect the lower end; with the Dom Strachu and the VR zone, the upper end.

Tips

  • Good for an evening visit. Hours: Mon-Sun: 10:00-22:00, that is open every day and until late in the evening, so the tower is easy to leave for the end of the day.
  • Two seasons of hours. The exhibition rules divide the year into two periods: 1 April to 30 October and 1 November to 31 March; in winter the exhibition closes earlier in the evening.
  • Arrive with time to spare. The ticket system recommends arriving at least 45 minutes before closing; the operator does not give a last-entry time.
  • An online ticket is for one day. A ticket bought online needs no registration, but it is valid only on the day chosen at purchase, so do not buy one just in case. Prices: standard ticket 59 PLN (about 13 EUR), reduced 39 PLN (about 9 EUR); the reduced ticket is for pupils and students with a valid student ID.
  • Extras and family tickets. The Dom Strachu and the VR zone are not included in the basic ticket and are paid for on site, so budget for them in advance. The ticket system also offers family tickets (2+1 and 2+2) and a separate ticket for each additional child.
  • With a small child. According to the operator, “Piracka Przygoda” is for the youngest and the Dom Strachu is for ages 12 and up. The rules advise children up to the age of 12 against visiting floors 4 and 5 and recommend that they stay with an adult carer.
  • No animals. Animals may not be brought into the exhibition; the exception is a guide dog or an assistance dog.

Getting there

  • Address: ul. Motławska 14 on Granary Island, at the junction of Motławska and Stągiewna streets.
  • “Długie Ogrody” stops: according to ZTM Gdańsk timetable data, the nearest is “Długie Ogrody 02”, about 213 m from the tower (lines 106, 111, 138, N78, N9); “Długie Ogrody 01” is about 256 m away (lines 106, 111, N78, N9).
  • “Chmielna” stops: “Chmielna 03” is about 262 m from the tower (lines 112, 138, 166, 178, 186, 212, C80, N8), and “Chmielna 01” and “Chmielna 02” about 270 m (lines 8 and 9).

Nearby

The nearest of the places listed below, the DeJa Vu Museum on Długie Ogrody, is about 350 m from the tower as the crow flies. You can pair both with the tower on a short walk.

Background

The attraction occupies the 16th-century Stągiew, which the operator calls one of the most distinctive towers on the Motława; the tower stands on Granary Island at the junction of Motławska and Stągiewna streets.

According to Wikipedia, the defensive towers of the Stągiewna Gate, called the Stągwie Mleczne (Milk Churns) because of their shape, were built at the start of the 16th century and are a remnant of the city fortifications. During the siege of 1813 part of the gate was destroyed, and in 1945 the interiors burned and the roofs collapsed.

Today’s exhibition is a guest within these walls: the rules describe it as a temporary exhibition organised by DFS Group, and the operator itself stresses that it is not a museum in the classical style. Among its audience, however, the operator also lists Gdansk enthusiasts.
