Zachęta on the exhibition: Resin* Solar Plexus is the first solo exhibition in Poland by Belarusian artist Jura Shust. It tells a story about the relationship between human spirituality and technology. For the exhibition, the artist prepared a new, multichannel installation consisting of films, sound, performative actions, and objects made from organic and industrial materials, arranged in five rooms at Zachęta. It introduces the viewer to a landscape stretching between a Christmas tree plantation, a cemetery where trees grow from graves, and an ancient Eastern European wilderness. Historically, ghettos were physically separated parts of cities, often surrounded by walls and cut off from the rest of the urban space. It is rounded out by a comic-mural made specially for the exhibition about her recent move to the Portuguese countryside. Zachęta on the exhibition: Dorota Podlaska’s art is narrative and often draws inspiration from personal experiences. The exhibition consists of several cycles of paintings that refer to the artist’s habit of noting down everything she sees and experiences. They are also connected by the watercolor technique, which the artist discovered a few years ago and which gave her greater freedom in painting. The ‘Diaries’ are paintings seen, experienced, and imagined. Post-Abstraction is the first comprehensive exhibition of the American artist’s work in this part of Europe - and a return to a place that years ago helped shape her artistic language.
