What to expect

The Vodka Museum at ul. Wierzbowa 11 – not to be confused with the Polish Vodka Museum at the Koneser complex in Praga. This is Warsaw’s second vodka museum, housed in a historic townhouse right by Theatre Square. Entrance from Canaletta street.

The collection numbers nearly 10,000 exhibits: original spirits, historic bottles, carafes, glasses, books, labels and advertisements from almost 180 Polish vodka factories. Likely the largest collection of its kind in the world. The exhibition traces the history of domestic producers, the impact of industrial change on the industry, and vodka’s place in Polish table culture.

In the same building you will find the Elixir restaurant and The Roots cocktail bar – together they form the “Vodka House” project. You can combine a museum visit with a tasting.

Tips

  • Do not confuse with Koneser. The Polish Vodka Museum is a completely different museum, in Praga Północ. This one is in the city centre, by Theatre Square.
  • Online tickets bought at least 12 hours in advance guarantee the lowest price. Check availability at muzeumwodki.pl.
  • Adult-oriented. This is a museum about alcohol – not the best choice for a trip with small children.
  • Tasting is available as an add-on to the visit – details on the website.
  • Located in central Warsaw – easy to fit into an Old Town walking itinerary.

Getting there

Metro: Ratusz Arsenał station (M1) – 5 minutes walk. The most convenient option.

Tram: Plac Teatralny or Plac Bankowy stops (trams 4, 13, 20, 35) – 2 minutes.

Bus: Plac Piłsudskiego stop (buses 107, 111, 116, 128) – 5 minutes walk.

By car: Central paid parking zone. Underground parking at Theatre Square or under the Saxon Garden. In the centre, a car is a hassle – take public transport.

Nearby museums

Royal Castle (5 min walk) – royal chambers and Vistula views. Theatre Museum (3 min walk, in the Grand Theatre) – costumes, set designs and the history of Polish opera. Combine: Vodka Museum + Royal Castle + Old Town stroll makes a solid half-day.
