What to expect
The Warsaw Gas Works Museum occupies the heritage buildings of the former Warsaw Gasworks on Kasprzaka street – one of the oldest gasworks in this part of Europe, operational since 1856. The buildings alone are worth the visit: brick industrial architecture, tall halls, raw industrial atmosphere.
The exhibition traces the history of gas supply from the first gas street lamps on Warsaw’s streets to modern infrastructure. Historic gas meters, street lamps, installer tools, documents and photographs. Part of the display is multimedia – touch screens, projections, interactive stations. The museum is run by the ORLEN Foundation, and it shows: this is a well-funded, well-maintained space.
A guided tour takes about 75 minutes. Guided tours depart at 12:00 and 13:30 and are included in the ticket price.
Tips
- Free Fridays. Admission is free every Friday – take advantage. No queues compared to free days at the bigger museums.
- Timed entry tickets. You buy entry for a specific time slot, so no waiting around. Available online at muzeum.pgnig.pl.
- Ages 7+. Younger children may get bored – the content is fairly technical. Older kids, especially those interested in engineering, will find it fascinating.

- Children under 6 enter free.
Getting there
Tram: Kasprzaka stop (trams 10, 13, 26) – the museum is literally at the stop. This is the easiest option.

Metro: Rondo DaszyÅ„skiego station (M2) – about 15 minutes walk. Not ideal, but manageable.
