    What to expect

One of Warsaw’s most niche collections: a company museum run by Stoen Operator, the city’s electricity grid operator, devoted entirely to electricity meters. The company has assembled over 200 exhibits spanning roughly 150 years of metering technology, and displays part of the collection in its customer service office at ul. Rudzka 18 in Żoliborz, a residential district north of the centre.

The oldest and best piece is Edison’s electrolytic direct-current meter from 1881 - a device that measured consumption by literally weighing copper plates and recording the difference in their mass, decades before the familiar spinning-disc meter existed. From there the collection moves through pre-war meters, including some of the first Polish-built units from the K. Szpotański electrical apparatus factory in the 1930s, heavy early induction meters, the well-regarded Polish A52 induction meter made by PAFAL in Świdnica (1976), and on to a present-day smart meter with remote readout.

Manage your expectations on format: this is not a museum in the conventional sense. There are no ticket desks, guides, or exhibition halls - the meters stand in display cases inside a working customer service office. If the history of technology and of Warsaw’s electrification appeals to you, half an hour at Rudzka has real charm. If you want a full afternoon of industrial history, the Warsaw Gas Works Museum in Wola tells a similar infrastructure story at proper museum scale.

    Tips

    • The display sits inside the Stoen Operator customer service office, so you view it during office hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. No weekends.
    • Check the official page before you go. Stoen offers an online booking system for office visits; when we verified in August 2026, booking was temporarily unavailable due to technical work. If in doubt, call +48 22 821 31 31.
    • Plan 20-30 minutes, not half a day - it pairs well with a walk around Żoliborz or the Bielany Forest.
    • No admission price is published - you are walking into an office lobby, not through a ticket gate.
    • Best audience: history-of-technology enthusiasts, electrical engineers, and school-age kids curious about the mystery box in the stairwell.

    Getting there

Ul. Rudzka 18 is in Marymont, the northern part of Żoliborz near the Bielany border. The nearest metro station is Marymont (line M1), from which it is a walk of some fifteen minutes towards Kaskada Park. Trams and buses along ul. Marymoncka and ul. Słowackiego also stop nearby.
