What to expect
The dela.art Collection is one of Warsaw’s more intriguing cases of art hiding in plain sight: a private contemporary-art collection hung throughout the working office building of the Eneris company at ul. Koszykowa 65, right next to Hala Koszyki. Founded by Artur and Mitra Dela with a stated mission of opening contemporary art to a wider public, it does something rare among private and corporate collections - it actually lets strangers in the door.
The holdings span the second half of the twentieth century and the twenty-first, mixing Polish artists with names from neighboring countries, wider Europe, Africa and Asia. The roster includes Magdalena Abakanowicz, Edward Dwurnik, Stanisław Dróżdż, Władysław Hasior, Alicja Kwade and Jarosław Modzelewski, alongside Joel Andrianomearisoa, Marc Didou, Arvin Golrokh, Eliška Konečná, Troy Makaza and Alessandro Sicioldr. That is an ambitious cross-section for a collection displayed among office desks - and the everyday office setting is exactly what makes the tour feel different from a stroll through a white cube.
The visiting rule is strict, though: because the offices operate normally, the collection can only be seen by prior appointment. Guided tours run on the last Saturday of each month at 11:00 AM, in groups of up to 12 people, and last about 80 minutes. You book through the “Book a guided tour” form on the visiting page - slots do sell out completely, so do not leave it until the Friday before.
A no-booking bonus: several works from the collection - lobby installations at Koszykowa 63/65 plus a Maurycy Gomulicki neon and a sculpture inside Hala Koszyki - can be seen free of charge Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM.
Tips
- Booking only. Without a reservation through the form on the official site you will not get in - this is a working office building, not a museum with a ticket desk. The August date was fully booked.
- One date per month: the last Saturday, 11:00 AM, maximum 12 participants. The calendar fills up fast.
- Admission is free - at roughly 4.3 PLN/EUR that is 0 EUR too; the booking system charges nothing.
- Regular tours are conducted in Polish; an English-language visit can be arranged by email: info@dela.art.
- The meeting point is the entrance to the office building at ul. Koszykowa 65 - registered visitors receive a confirmation email with the practical details.
- If you miss the monthly slot, see the freely accessible works in the Koszykowa 63/65 lobbies and inside Hala Koszyki (Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-6:00 PM).
