What to expect
Apteka Sztuki Gallery is a contemporary-art exhibition space at al. Wyzwolenia 3/5 in 艢r贸dmie艣cie, between plac Na Rozdro偶u and plac Zbawiciela in central Warsaw. The programme covers painting, graphics, photography and other contemporary-art media, with the show rotating several times a year.
The gallery operates within a Zak艂ad Aktywno艣ci Zawodowej (ZAZ) - a Polish form of employment for people with disabilities. That makes it two things at once: a contemporary-art venue and a workplace built around a social mission. Part of the gallery staff are employed through the ZAZ arrangement, so the visitor experience naturally includes contact with them.
This isn’t a commercial sales gallery or a permanent-collection museum. It’s closer to an independent exhibition space with a distinctive identity - art and a social-employment role sharing the same room. Tips
- Free admission. No tickets, no reservation needed - walk in during opening hours.
- Regular weekly hours. Monday-Friday 10:00-17:00, Saturday 12:00-17:00. Closed Sunday. That kind of fixed schedule is unusual for an independent Warsaw gallery.
- Check the current programme before you visit. The site aptekasztuki.eu lists the current show and upcoming openings. If you’re coming for a specific piece, make sure it’s actually on display.
- Short visit. One exhibition space - 20-40 minutes is enough.
- Social-mission context. Operating within a Zak艂ad Aktywno艣ci Zawodowej is uncommon for Warsaw galleries - if you specifically want venues with a clear social purpose, this is one of the few in that format.
- Accessibility: only the exhibition hall and ground-floor rooms are wheelchair-accessible - there is a ramp beside the entrance stairs, a barrier-free toilet on the ground floor and two disabled-parking spaces outside (per the gallery’s accessibility declaration).
Getting there
Address: al. Wyzwolenia 3/5, Warszawa, 艢r贸dmie艣cie.
Metro: Politechnika station (M1, red line), then walk via plac Zbawiciela towards plac Na Rozdro偶u.
Tram: plac Zbawiciela stop, lines 4, 10, 14, 15, 18 and 35.
Bus: plac Na Rozdro偶u stop, lines including 116, 166, 180, 503 and E-2.
By car: 艢r贸dmie艣cie is inside Warsaw’s paid parking zone (SPPN) on weekdays, and there is a small car park in front of the gallery, including two disabled spaces.
